Being .8 short in sports can be the difference between winning and losing, and .8 can make a big difference on your student loans as well. On July 1, 2008, the interest rate on subsidized federal student loans dropped from 6.8% to 6%. This .8% cut will save an average of $2570 for borrowers starting school in 2008.
