As I half heartily listen to CNBC news while I’m working I realize that the media is sensationalising the current credit and housing worries to the point that each report seems to have to outperform the previous on how gloomy the state of the financial world is in. Ambulatory Surgery Centers

Recent economic news has ranged from gloomy to apocalyptic. The economic downturn has affected the psyche of the American population and created an ever-present pessimistic mood, which in turn has changed consumer behavior. Those who used to spend have put away their wallets, causing widespread unemployment and drastic declines in business activity. The circular nature of the business cycle ensures a downward spiral that is difficult to reverse. [more...]

Payment Options for Your Business: not so Plain Vanilla Anymore

Sep.20, 2009 in UncategorizedCopyright (c) 2008 Aisha Jones Scheffel I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. As the summer begins, it always makes me think of ice cream, sunshine, and water whether it’s laying by a pool or lounging on a beach. So naturally, wanting to officially kick-off summer, I ventured into a nearby ice cream shop and became paralyzed with all the choices. Terror Probe Arrests: Two Colorado Men, One NYC Man

AURORA, Colo. — The arrest of a Colorado airport shuttle driver as part of a terrorism investigation reveals a murky plot that involved him receiving explosives training with al-Qaida in Pakistan and downloading instructions on his computer on how to build bombs. Germany - The Bitter-Sweet Tears Of Angela von Merkel

German voters gave Chancellor Angela Merkel the green light for a second term on Sunday, along with a clear mandate to form a new government with the liberal Free Democrat Party (FDP). But just what exactly is the new government likely to do? Merlek has been quick to pour cold water on any idea of early tax cuts, “I expect we’ll agree very quickly on tax policy, especially when you look at the leeway we have with the budget,” she is quoted as saying. Nate Silver is accusing the Strategic Vision polling firm of making up its data (which would be much cheaper than collecting it!). 12 Most Outrageous Examples of Government Waste

Most have heard the saying that no one takes care of a rental car like they take care of their own. Why not floor the gas pedal or track sand into the car - the reasoning goes - if you’ll never see it again after this week? In many ways, this is a perfect analogy to government waste. No matter which party is in power, spending other people’s money rarely compels one to be as prudent as if they were spending their own. [more...]

No surprise here; FBI and likely other federal agencies abuse the use of National Security Letters. Support the JUSTICE Act unless the Republicans can do better.

I have been railing against the Patriot Act (which is anything but) since its passage and I physically protested same back when AG Ashcroft visited Salt Lake City in circa 2003. Numerous provisions of that Act signed into law by the SOB (Son Of a Bush) were and remain egregious. The Patriot Act assailed our rights on so many fronts, not the least of which was broadening the use of National Security Letters (NSL). [more...]

Credit Repair Can Make Your Life Stress Free

by Dina Salinas For most people, having bad credit would be like the end of the world. People rely on credit for even the simplest transactions in this modern world. If you have bad credit, then simplify your life with a credit repair that is within reach. If you’re having financial issues, chances are that creditors already know. They can tell by the way you handle your credit, the way you pay it, etc. For instance, if you are changing your credit pattern or taking cash advances. [more...]

Garlic extract cuts back on cows' methane gas

Mention greenhouse gases, and most people think of cars. The reality, however, is that more than 20 percent of such gases around the globe come not from machines but from cows—specifically, the 500 billion liters of methane gas that get emitted by the world's billion or so cows every day. That's more than what's produced by all the cars, planes, ships and trucks on the planet, but Mootral , a small UK startup, may just have found a solution. [more...]
