To help with this, Thomas Gaines, Jeffrey Brandt, Jeffrey Rovner and Eugene Stein gave a terrific presentation at ILTA09 regarding how technology might assist with alternative billing arrangements. They started by exploding some common alternative billing myths, chief among which is that it is safe to defer consideration of new cost and billing structures by using [more...]

Mark Turner Russell Edgar: Turners Bar Complaint Response Back to Edgars Comments
There has been a lot of conversation here at Maggie's Notebook about Mark Turner, a man living in the Pensacola, Florida area. At the bottom of this post, you will find links to the background of Mark Turner's case. Today, I want to focus on complaints Mr. Turner made to the Florida Bar. When a citizen feels they have been unjustly treated by the justice system, they can file a "Bar Complaint" with the State's Bar - the organization that generally registers and tracks lawyers in the area. Obama’s Work Ethic
Obama’s Work Ethic By Ed Lasky Barack Obama has displayed a disturbing pattern of work ethics: shirking work; claiming success when he was not entitled to do so; hiding his failures; and claiming the work of others as his own — when it was successful. These are not character traits that we should associate with Presidents. Barack Obama won praise for Dreams From My Father , a 1995 memoir of his life that was published when he reached the grand old age of thirty-four. [more...]

Bloggers and the Federal Shield Law
This news pisses off lots of bloggers and citizen media advocates: For citizen journalists, the federal shield law front was looking good for a while.
