Citi Sells Chunk of Diners Club – Analyst Blog

Citigroup, Inc. ( C ) has sold off a part of its Diners Club credit card processing business to Elavon, a subsidiary of US Bancorp ( USB ), as it continues to rid itself of unwanted assets. Elavon acquired Citibank's Diners Club Card merchant-location portfolio in Western Europe, which represents more than 75,000 merchants. Small and mid-size businesses that accept Diners Club cards in the region will now process their transactions through Elavon. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. [more...]

What's Xerox buying?

Xerox Corp. (NYSE:XRX) shares were down about 18% Monday afternoon on news of its $8.4 billion acquisition (includes debt) of document and business process outsourcing company Affiliated Computer Services Inc. (NYSE:ACS). ACS shares were up about 12% after soaring as much as 26%. Recently appointed Xerox CEO Ursula Burns said in an interview with CNBC (video below) she is very comfortable with the acquisition and the market just needs time to digest the acquisition. RIL, auto stocks slide in flat market

Key benchmark indices ended little changed after witnessing wild gyrations throughout the day. The BSE 30-share Sensex rose 7.71 points or 0.05%, off 61.06 points from the day's high, and up 75.19 points from the day's low. The BSE Sensex extended gains for third straight session while S&P CNX Nifty ended marginally lower. Nifty regains 5,000 mark

Data showing a surge in growth in the core sector boosted domestic bourses with the 50-unit S&P CNX Nifty settling above the psychological 5,000 level. The BSE 30-share Sensex rose 159.91 points or 0.96%, off close to 55 points from the day's high and up close to 50 points from the day's low.
