Unmasking Obama…Obama’s Work Ethic….

It is now abundantly clear that the image of Barack Obama sold to the American electorate was tightly edited, air-brushed, and exaggerated. He has worn a series of masks — eloquent orator, brilliant scholar, centrist, and literary sensation. All of these masks are coming off as he copes with a job for which image will not suffice.  For instance, hiding behind the eloquent orator mask is a guy who says “uhh” a lot when he is winging it, and who makes lots of factual and grammatical mistakes . 'The Good Wife': They're called exotic dancers, OK?

Let’s face it: "The Good Wife" is a little bipolar.  It’s a show about a publicly humiliated politician’s wife ... who is also a hungry junior associate at a prestigious Chicago law firm!   The challenge of this show is always going to be tying these two plot lines together cohesively. So far, the show has bridged the gap between these two worlds pretty effectively, if only because Alicia’s cases are suspiciously close to her husband’s sphere of influence. [more...]

10 Simple Tips to Master the Art of Haggling and Savvy Shopping

AEI Interns’ Transcripts in Date Order: Their Own First Draft of History

First of all, I want to reemphasize everything Laurie just said. This is not a new threat, and this is not a threat we did not know about. Saddam Hussein has, in many ways, openly dreamed of mass death in the United States. He has shared his dreams with his nation and the world many times. We also know he has actively planned to do so many times, and Laurie’s book is a rather convincing argument that he is active and successfully implemented plans to do so as well. [more...]

Behind the Gambit in the A.S.C.-Xerox Deal

DealBook’s Andrew Ross Sorkin makes the case that the uptick in the stock market and the slow return of credit are reviving the mergers and acquisitions market. The question, however, is not whether the M.&A. market will revive, but instead whether everyone will simply go back to the old party and its bad practices. The question arises yet again as a result of Darwin Deason’s latest gambit. Mr. Deason is the chairman of Affiliated Computer Services, and owns a near-controlling stake in the company. [more...]

No surprise here; FBI and likely other federal agencies abuse the use of National Security Letters. Support the JUSTICE Act unless the Republicans can do better.

I have been railing against the Patriot Act (which is anything but) since its passage and I physically protested same back when AG Ashcroft visited Salt Lake City in circa 2003. Numerous provisions of that Act signed into law by the SOB (Son Of a Bush) were and remain egregious. The Patriot Act assailed our rights on so many fronts, not the least of which was broadening the use of National Security Letters (NSL). [more...]
