Rome Water And Sewer Rate Increase Likely

Rome’s Water and Sewer Committee met Tuesday morning to hash out the final details of a proposed water and sewer rate increase for 2010 and 2011. Rome City Commissioner Buzz Wachsteter, who chairs the city’s Water and Sewer Committee, said the committee considered the rate increase for two reasons — unfunded mandates bearing down on the water and sewer department and the financial situation of the department as a whole. “We have a $20 million budget,” Wachsteter said of the department.
